Aconitum ferox བོང་ང་ནག་པོ་

English name: Dark-blue aconite 

Tibetan name: Bong-nga Nag-po/ Men-chen (བོང་ང་ནག་པོ་ / སྨན་ཆེན་)

Taste and potency: sweet and little bit bitter taste (རོ་མངར་ལ་ཅུང་ཁ་བ་); bitter post-digestive taste (ཞུ་རྗེས་ཁ་བ་); warming and very powerful (can be poisonous) potency (ནུས་པ་དྲོ་ཞིང་དུག་ཤས་ཆེ་)

Profound value of Aconitum ferox in Tibetan Medicine:

• Lymph disorders (ཆུ་སེར་ནད་): Aconite is used in the treatment of increased amount of lymph (lymphostasis), various types of arthritis with swelling of the joints and limbs and severe pain (དྲེག་གྲུམ་ནད་ཀྱི་རུས་ཚིགས་སྐྲངས་ནས་གཟེར་ཟུག་གཏོང་བ་). It cleanses and dries up "bad" lymph (ཆུ་སེར་སྐེམ་). Used for the treatment of leprosy (མཛེ་ནད་) and severe pain/ colicky pain (གཟེར་ཟུག་གི་རིགས་འཇོམས་). It is also used for swelling due to infections (གཉན་སྐྲངས་).
• Parasites: it is used to the treatment of many kinds of parasitic infections ( སྲིན་ནད་ཀྱི་རིགས་) including intestinal parasites ( རྒྱུ་སྲིན་). 
• Wind in the heart ( སྙིང་རླུང་གི་ནད་): in Tibetan Medicine there is such a term as "Wind in the heart". It means that Wind or energy instead of travelling in proper channels, goes to the heart and disturbs its functions. It causes overexcitement of nervous system and gives symptoms that are related to both heart and mind. Such as, heaviness in the chest, tremble, palpitations, dizziness. Fear, panic attacks, phobic syndromes with cardiological symptoms, delusional perceptions, insomnia, depression. It has a soothing effect on anxious, aggressive and depressive states. It is also used for the treatment and prevention of stroke ( གྲིབ་སྐྱོན་གྱི་ནད་).
• It increases body warmth and energy ( ལུས་ཁམས་ཀྱི་དྲོད་ཉམས་པ་). 
• It is very toxic if taken incorrectly and is usually processed in special way to reduce its toxicity.
